We love Wordpress we decided to run
this site with it, and lucky for us, it makes publishing a podcast very easy.
Today, we’ll show you how.
- The first thing you need to do is have Wordpress installed on your server.
As of Wordpress 1.5, the blogging
software offers enclosure support, which is the special tag needed to add
audio to a blog for use in podcasting. Be sure to update for this to work (and
for various security fixes be sure to get the latest).
- Log into the Dashboard, go to Manage and
Categories.
- Create a new category called Podcasts (or something
similar).
- Each category can have its own RSS feed with
Wordpress which looks something like
http://www.yoursite.com/wp-rss2.php?category_name=category_name. Just
replace yoursite with your URL and category_name to whatever
you named your podcast category (Podcasts in this case). If you’d like to keep
some listeners stats, we recommend running your feed through
Feedburner, but this is optional.
- When you’re ready to publish your podcast, upload it to your server, and
create a new post. Be sure to use the category Podcasts (or
whatever your category name is). Now simply add a link to it in the post and
publish it. You now have podcast publishing set up!
